Writing has always been a meaningful part of my life. My poetry was chosen for the cornerstone of a new elementary school in my community while I was still in high school. Raised in Short Pump, a rural area of Richmond, Virginia, she learned early how much it matters to stand up for others, especially shy, quiet, and introverted children searching for support. Inspired by bold, layered characters like Catwoman, Jowanda admired heroes who used their gifts to survive, protect, and lift others with purpose.
